This seminar discusses priorities for developing the robotics and AI sectors in the UK.
It follows the publication of the Government’s Industrial Strategy, that builds on the independent review of the AI industry with an Artificial Intelligence Sector Deal – which will focus on making the UK a global leader in AI as well as boosting productivity, safe and ethical use of data, and skills. The seminar also follows the recent announcement of £75m investment in AI in the Autumn Budget.
Sessions will examine how the technologies fit into the Digital Strategy and Industrial Strategy Challenge Fund, which seeks to increase investment for R&D, as well as the effect of the Sector Deal on innovation and investment in the industry and the priorities for the new £20 million GovTech Fund – aimed at boosting public sector productivity.
Delegates will also assess the impact on markets and competition, development timescales and the wider implications of the growth of AI and robotics for employment, cyber security and safety – set against the promise of greater productivity and closing the skills gap. Further sessions consider key priorities in the areas of investment, tech skills and partnerships, as well as the challenges for securing the UK’s international position and for exploiting export opportunities.
